Change to Oyster Photocard Fares and Freedom Pass Concession for over 60s

In December 2021, the Mayor of London outlined a number of fare proposals which had to be explored to generate income in order to comply with the funding conditions agreed by Transport for London (TfL) and the government.

Having carefully considered an equality impact assessment, and stakeholder feedback, the Mayor has confirmed that the temporary travel time restrictions on 60+ Oyster and Older Person’s Freedom Passes will become permanent for 18 January 2023. No changes will apply to holders of the Disabled Persons Freedom Pass.

While holders of the 60+ Oyster photocard and Older Persons’ Freedom Pass will have to pay for travel between 04:30 and 09:00 on weekdays, they remain fully eligible for unlimited free travel on TfL’s services after 09:00 on Mondays to Fridays and at all times at weekends and bank holidays.
